The People's Republic of China Vietnam Cuba North Korea Laos These are currently the only countries using the Socialist system. So I ask, if Socialism is great, would you live in one of these countries? **I was actually amazed to see China listed under Socialism. I've always thought of them as a Communist country with a dash of Capitalism. But that is how their classified. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_socialist_countries

No, those countries peoples have limited rights I prefer capitalism

CHina took America's capitalist ways, and improved upon them. Now they are the richest country on Earth and all without any Democracy. I'd say whoever's in charge of China IS living the American dream.
3 :
This is America, the way we made it. Obama is the President. Love it or Leave it.
4 :
Well all of Europe is socialist and they have more freedoms than americans have
5 :

6 :
These countries aren't bad because they are socialist. They are bad because they are dictatorships.
7 :

You might want to go back and read that again.

If these are the ONLY countries using the Socialist system, then what's your complaint about the US? By YOUR logic, we aren't.

Not me! I prefer red, white and blue; stars and stripes; mom and apple pie!!! Give us liberty or give us death! ADD to I am god: They also have a horrendous history when it comes to human rights. Then there is that pesky little population control thing going on. You get ONE kid, that's it. Yeah sounds like utpoia to me. What is more important being the richest country on earth OR living in the nation wih the most liberties?

name me one first tier industrialized democracy in the world that has the type of health care system Republicans want. Name me one country that is not in complete anarchy that has the type of small govt Republicans want.

I don't think you understand the difference between communism and socialism I was only born last week and even I know that you should not get your facts from wikipedia
15 :
None of those are actually Socialist or Communist. They just use the name. But nice try at perpetuating a lie.

I am libertarian and I would voluntarily choose to live in Denmark or at least test it out. However, I would never try to impose their type of system onto anyone esle. I think your list of socialism is sophomoric. Mondragon is a good example of worker cooperatives and even Yugoslavia was a good example until Reagan used the IMF to cripple them, because he was over paranoid.

Freedom is the best! Any time the government moves in a socialist, communist direction by taking control of our freedoms, we will certainly regret it!

No. However, I will happily live in a country that mixes capitalism with a little bit of socialism. In fact, I do already. A brief lesson on social systems: Communism is an ideal system, in which all property is voluntarily shared, and government essentially ceases to exist. It should not surprise you that China is not listed as communist, because in all reality, communism does not exist. Pure socialism is basically an attempt to use governmental power to force communism into existence. So far, it has failed miserably to do this. However, a little bit of socialist policy goes a long way towards balancing out the weaknesses of a mostly capitalist system.

I've been to China and I probably could find a better job there. I'm curios about Vietnam, Laos, haven't a clue. Cuba might be nice if they opened up trade with the US. They have government health care that's pretty good I hear. Forget about Korea, talk about a nut case running the show. If I'm going to be poor it might as well be somewhere that's sunny. At least it won't cost much for heat and I never air condition anyhow.

none of the above but will consider many others with it.

Of course, Canada is not on that list. Neither is Germany. Both have had socialized medicine for decades. Overall, the United States is becoming more like Canada, Europe, and Australia in its policies, not more like Vietnam or Cuba or any of the other communistic countries you mentioned on that list.

There seems to be some confusion between socialist systems, socialist policies, communism/socialism and democracy/autocracy in the question and answers. (No doubt I haven't expressed that well either.) It is quite possible to have a socialist system and a democracy at the same time. My understanding is that a pure capitalist system is one that allows capitalists to do whatever they want to make a buck; I don't think any country quite has that (probably the USA is closest). But the USA administration bailed out the banks recently - that's a socialist exercise - in a capitalist system government should not get involved in business. Looking after your poor, rather than leaving them to their own devices, is socialist. Seems to me it's a 'Christian virtue' too. I'm atheist, but the US is generally Christian, so maybe a bit more socialism in the USA would be appropriate?

Capitalism means Money is GOD. and Socialism was born after Capitalism and it try to change the law of Capitalism. American would like the socialism because it save them from economic crisis, and make good pay to the workers. But the experiments in some other country were fail.
