my surname is Lao. which means old in chinese. im not from china or laos btw. im from phil. but now i live in australia and apparently im the only one with lao asa a surname. is lao really a surname?

Don't be worried about it, i have an uncommon surname too. There is a society for it, as it is so rare, and there is only around 30 people with my surname. Having a different thing to someone else is good, it will help people identify you, so don't get worried or upset (:

I have a rare surname also. Aside from our family, there is only one other family in the US that we can find with this surname and we don't think there is any relationship between the two families. However, I love my name and I wouldn't change it for anything. Embrace it, it makes you unique.
