I am currently in a culture history class in college and the professor was talking about the difference of physical features people have around the world. Now I would just like to know the following: Why do east Asians as in Chinese, Japanese, both Koreans, Vietamese, Laos, Thailand, etc. Why do these people have slanted eyes. I'm only talking about the pure non mixed ones. Why are most short and have flat faces and rounded heads? Why are Indians, Pakistanis, Sri Lanka, etc. Why are these people dark like black people, but they don't have the nappy hair, big lips, noses like Africans? Its amazing how people from Indian area are completly different looking from people in the China area. Why are central and south Aficans so black? Why are Europeans white and have pale skin. Well not the Latins but you get the point. Why do Jews have large noses? Now, like I said earlier, I'm not racist at all I'm just fascinted at how humans can look so different from each other just because they live in other parts of the world. Do you think it has something to do with the tilt of the earth? For example, why do Irish and Scottish people have natrual red heads and freckles? Sorry if it is long but I would like to know. Plz help!

The answer is >>> genetics. It's as simple as that. People that lives within specific geographical areas with little contact and interbreeding with other people will develop typical genetic traits because of that. What kind of traits that becomes the most dominant is determined by several different factors such and human likes and dislikes, coincidence and biological advantages. If an isolated group of people find tall men attractive then it's also very likely that the genes that makes men tall will have a greater chance or living on and spreading to the next generations. Big (fat) women has also been very popular through out times since a fat woman is more likely to have the energy to carry, give birth and raise a child. Skinny women were more likely to starve to death and leave the children without a caretaker. This is not important today when we have endless supplies with food and today we women curse the genes that makes us put on weight as soon as we feel the scent of chocolate. If having dark skin is an advantage because of the sunlight then it's more likely that the genes that carry the skin colour make up will survive to the next generations. Dark skin protects the body where there is much sunlight while paler skin is an advantage where people get too little sunlight because of the weather or because they live too far north. Moderate levels of sunlight are needed for people to function well, the skin tone helps the body adjust and fill the need. Blue eyes is actually a random genetic mutation that happened a very long time ago. All by chance. So is the mutation that gave people blond hair. That's just random things that accidentally happened. Try to picture how it had to be for the parents that had a "freak" for a baby. People that break the geographic, cultural or religious barriers and start to mix with another group of people will, if limited to those two only, form a new group with different traits yet being similar to the two groups that they originated from. Today humans are mixing on a global level that's unseen before and if this continues then the differences between people will fade away, but as it all is with genetics we're still talking about many, many generations before the change will be noticeable. Looking at the examples in your question you have geographic isolation, East Asia. Genetic mix, India by being close to the middle east. While in Europe you can see it even clearer, the parts of Europe that's the most isolated also have the most blond or red haired people, while the parts of Europe that's closer to the Middle East and Africa have more tanned and dark haired people. The big nosed Jews is a stereotype for all I know and not a sign of their race. Ireland and Scotland are both located on islands isolated from the rest of Europe, the stronger genes have spread within a very limited area and have become stronger over time. Now you really need to consider the value of the education that you have been getting because this is common knowledge that we were taught in school long before college.
