im going to be travelling in laos in the new year and was wondering if anyone knew how much you can live on per day there?

Hey there! Laos is fairly atypical of the SE Asian nations. How much depends on the level of comfort you require, and where in Laos you're going to go. I would say you could survive on as little as $20 USD a day...maybe even less if you eat relatively little, & mostly from the cheap stalls. This is BARE bones though...you're looking at grungier hostels and hotels, the cheapest transport...that sort of thing. I would SUGGEST at least $30-40 a day (USD) for a really enjoyable experience though. You want a little for souvenirs, maybe a little for a rafting or climbing tour here or there. So, let's say on a budget, $20-40 a day. Or less. If you're really gonzo. ;)
