Apparently this 20 year old woman who came to live in Britain from Nigeria when she was 8, has been arrested and charged with drug smuggling in Laos. Now all her friends and family have said she is innocent (and of course they would). Now I don't know whether she is guilty or innocent and I certainly believe she is entitled to a fair trial with proper legal representation, and is to be assumed innocent unless proven guilty. Now I visited a British prisoner who was convicted of drug smuggling in Thailand and he was held at BangKwang, and was serving 30 years. I did feel sorry for all the foreign prisoners there, until the British Consulate there told me that whatever my opinions of the sentence and conditions, everyone in that prison was 100 % GUILTY of their crimes no matter how much they protested their innocence. Now my question is this. Do you think she was raped in prison or she deliberatelygot pregnant to help her case and if she is convicted does she deserve the death penalty. My own opinion is that im not sure about the death penalty, but I think 30 years (which is the norm in Asia), is a fair sentence for drug dealers/smugglers, who in my opinion deserve the harshest sentence possible. What do you think

Depends on the reason she was smuggling. It was it for personal use, or resale? If she was supplying other people, she should be locked up until she is too old to supply anyone. If it was personal use, she needs to be put into a rehab program and told this is her one chance to change. The next time she is caught with drugs remove her from society permanently.

Thailand, Laos and Burma have had drug problems in the past. Dealers, and traffickers would kill anyone who got in their way. Civilians, police and soldiers were killed. It has now improved since Thailand and other countries were able to seek and kill these criminals through undercover operations. Under cover officers would provide the locations of the safe houses and the military would raid them. From then on, anyone caught trafficking 30 kg of drugs (in Thailand) can get the harshest sentence possible which can be death- which is far for everyone including her.
