yeah it is probably possible if you eat and drink where the locals do, are you tied to just vientiane? we stayed on don dep, i think it was called, on thousand islands is laos. i think we spent $20 each for four days lodging and food and beers included and that wasn't watching what we spent!

$150 a month - that´s possible. You have to go to the small restaurants, the locals go to. Or buying by yourself at the market. For $5 a day (if I´m alone) I´ll have a pretty great life. Never hungry, delicious local food and beer :)

Well that depends if you really want to see the culture or you just want to be cheap no offense. For entertainment, there's not much to do, but if you want to spend money, then I would suggest that you would go to a concert or look at a dancing competition or some event. But if you don't want to spend money, I would suggest you hang out with the locals and see how they spend their everday life like playing soccer, etc... Food and drink are really cheap and I advise you to drink the water that comes in plastic bottles that are sealed because the water that are in the bags are possibly contaminated, meaning they didn't filter the water yet. Have a nice trip.
