I learned of some terrible things happening to a group of people in Laos where they are being exterminated everyday by that country. I watched a documentary and I couldn't sleep or eat for days because of it. I was very affected by it, however, I felt there was nothing I can do but to live my life to the fullest and not worry so much about it. I have since moved on and ignored it, just living my life as I used to in Rich America.

I don't think you should feel bad about it. You are in no way responsible for the terrible things that happen to other people. Perhaps you can ease your buden a bit by volunteering for homeless shelters and or giving money to charity. You would be doing good for some people. You can not however, save the world. Good on you for having a conscience and taking notice of the rest of the world.

You should not feel bad for being rich so long as you attained your wealth ethically. I have worked in many poor countries as a development worker. After a while, you get used to seeing poverty. I tried to do something about it during my career. The results were mixed. I had some disappointments but also successes.
