If you could go around the world for a year, what would you do

If you could go around the world for a year, what would you do?
I'm 22 and I'm going for it. I always dreamed of doing one of those around the world tickets, so I'm doing it. As in, selling my car lease, giving my dog to a friend to watch, taking a break from a 4 year relationship and just travelling. I just graduated as a certified massage therapist (from one of the top schools in the world), I'm the oldest of 5 (full) siblings, and after 23 years of being married my mom has left my dad, and as the cliche goes, I have been silently reevaluating my life and the value of living in the "now." I'm using my whole savings to buy the ticket and support myself. I am however currently left with about $12 a day to live on for the next year. I am hoping to barter, trade and work my way around. Partially relying on the kindness of strangers who encourage my journey, and hoping I can help them in some way in return. A little more about myself, I am an avid traveler and have spent weeks in rural India on my own at 16 as well as having backpacked in Israel and the Sinai peninsula of Egypt as a single Jewish, American woman last summer. Backpacking and the cautions of being on my own as a single woman are not new to me, and I love meeting people along the way. I attended some of high school in France and am a quite worldly person in general. I always love being in new, exciting, and trying situations! I haven't gotten a 100% go on this specific itinerary yet, but its looking like this is the one (if not a similar version). Its based on the areas I haven't had the chance to explore yet, I have done a quite a bit of exploring in Europe, China, Africa, and India. What would you do for a year? I've finally got my website up, and even nice looking! I'm hoping to document my journeys, maybe even "blog." I'm curious for an outsider's perspective. Here's where I'm going: 24FEB – Burbank, CA-DFW, DFW-Belize backpack Belize, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica 24MAR – Costa Rica- MIA, MIA-Caracus backpack Venezuela, Brazil, Paraguay, Argentina, Chile, Bolivia, Peru, Chile 28JUN – Santiago-Easter Island Easter Island 05JUL – Easter Island-Santiago, Santiago-Sydney Sydney 12JUL – Sydney-Bali Bali 21SEP – Bali-HKG, HKG-Bangkok Thai Yoga Massage course and backpacking Laos, Veitnam, and Cambodia (dates after this are made-up because I can only book out 330 days) 15JAN – Bangkok-AMM, AMM-Tel Aviv Israel 01FEB Tel Aviv-LHR, LHR-Atlanta I'd love to hear your ideas, experiences, suggestions, even connections in any of these places of people that might exchange labor for a roof over my head or a meal :) And yes, I know this is a pipe dream. But it is my pipe dream, and I am so indcrediblyexcited to live it.. please don't rain on my parade :) *before and after backpacking Laos, Cambodia, and VIetnam, I will be in Thailand :)

Way to go, stay easy and live the dream. I've been around different parts of the world 3 times. To many to list. I suggest getting hooked up with some missionarys here in the USA before leaving. You could keep in contact and they just might cut your cost in 1/2 or more and make your travels last longer. There are many people who blog on traveling and pics they have taken. As you know there's a circle of back packers and once out of the USA you will find the grove that works for you. I am sure you have gotten all the shots. 12 shot record to take with you, I think that's what it's called. You want those for anywhere in Asia as you may know. Keeps you alive. Get a doctor to prescribe Amodium and other over the counter drugs before leaving, it just makes life easier as you may know from past trips. If you like the beach check out Manliy AU. while near Sidney. really nice place or was a few years ago. In Cambodia you can go to a shooting range there and shoot all the weapons used in the war. Kinda fun, cost may be a little high, but may barter with them. I say go to Thai Land when in Cambodia, it's not that far away and great food there. You can eat 3 meals a day for about $1.40 US. Live in a hut on the beach with a friend for about $7.00 US. Really was cheap when there before the Tsunami hit. Who knows how much now. Backpackers can tell you the "Now" prices, once on your way. You can pick up lot's of work exp. Massage over in Thai land, Japan, China. Learn Reiki if you haven't, and the hole list is taught there for a third of the price. The certificates will be valueable when you return and start working. You can't make much money in asia doing massage, because it's just so cheap. Unless you get hired by a hotel because you speak more than one language, that's a big plus in your favor. Have lots of fun.
